Both projects are part of an infinite work in progress
entitled "Inventory" composed of installations, which reflect the
identity and memory, on porous thin line between reality and fiction when we
talk about the past.
Each series involves a meticulous catalogue of
objects, portraits, photographs, prints and installations that make up a
scenario, a device that invites the viewer to reflect on the construction and
transmission of remembrances, memory.
Without being the main body of my creations, language is
fundamental in my artistic practice. Therefore, it is not surprising that this
set of works are based and titled just like the eponymous poem by Jorge Luis
Borges.
The process of carving as a way of recording, of
remembering. Details that become fundamental and that shape new possible
universes. Like memory. An insistent and necessary system that has as its sole
objective not to forget. A set of symbolic fictions that allow me to understand
where I come from and where I decide to go.
Much of the work that composes this exhibition was
made and exhibited during the residency at the Cité internacionale des arts,
Paris, France 2014-2015. And it is exhibited for the first time in Uruguay
thanks to the Cultural Space "Ambassador Vicente Muñiz Arroyo",
Embassy of Mexico.
