In its inaugural exhibition, LÍQUIDO will present the most recent textile works by multidisciplinary Uruguayan artist Elián Stolarsky.
Stolarsky investigates images related to war and migration duringthe 20th century, which she then translates into abstract, hand-sewn textiles. The works thus incite a slow reading of photography–different from what we are accustomed to today. These works challenge our relationship with images and their role in memory and identity construction. Through an abstraction built with scraps of fabric, Stolarsky seems to question: is it photography that informs our identity, or is it us who project ourselves in photography?.
